asap's HILLARY RHODES brings home a slide show of images from an interactive playground meant for adventurers of all ages.
ST. LOUIS
In a world where lawsuits and preventive safety measures increasingly threaten to impede our sense of adventure, a fun-factory called the "City Museum" seems to throw caution to the wind, inviting risk-takers of all ages to enjoy themselves in a sort of indoor-outdoor jungle gym on steroids.
Kids go wild, and so do adults. It's fabulous like that.
There's no end to the crawling, sliding, exploring and general playfulness exhibited on all fours by all generations at this mega climbing complex.
Indoors, you can slink through the enchanted caves reminiscent of dragons' teeth, or visit the Museum of Mirth, Mystery and Mayhem, full of carnival kitsch from vintage pinball machines to the world's largest pair of men's underpants (giggle, giggle).
Outside, one could spend hours crawling -- sometimes on your back -- through MonstroCity. Stories high, it's made of twisting wrought-iron tubes that connect slides, old airplane fuselages, a fire engine and a castle turret.
At the bottom, a giant ball pit beckons. And at the top, a school bus dangles menacingly over the edge of the roof, peering over the whole scene as if it could come tumbling down at any moment.
