NEW YORK _ Dining at chef Daniel Boulud's restaurant Daniel in New York City is otherworldy: a gastronomical experience seemingly conjured up by a magician. To novices of the culinary arts, mimicking his creations seem impossible -- at least in our own kitchens.
And we would be correct.
Boulud is a superstar in his field. The French-born chef hosts the TV show "After Hours with Daniel" (the second season premieres Oct. 14 on Mojo TV) and has racked up numerous awards and accolades. We are as likely to find success equal to his as we are hitting a Mariano Rivera cut fastball.
But, thanks to the Internet, overnight delivery and local farmer's markets, we can think and shop like a chef.
On a recent visit to Daniel, Boulud let us behind the curtain, taking us into his kitchen and sharing his philosophy on food and showing how a prepared and passionate shopper can redefine the idea of local ingredients. It's all here in this asap video report.
