Gadgets, Geeks and Videotape

"Gotta go get the candy."

That's the motto around GameTrailers.com, according to CEO Jon Slusser, when it's time to collect new teaser footage from video game companies to post on the MTV Networks-owned site.

"The trailers set the hype. Trailers can make or break games," says Slusser. "Of course, it's a visual treat and people love it. For the fanatics it's more than a treat."

With more than 50 million video game videos viewed in March, his site is one of the top spots on the Web for obsessive gamers eager for a fresh glimpse of, say, level two of the hotly-anticipated upcoming Ubisoft title "Assassin's Creed."

"That's gonna be huge," he says."

With such a fierce devotion to games that aren't even out yet, and the emergence in recent years of what's called "unboxing porn," it's clear that tech anticipation has heated up.

But has lust for video games and gadgets spun out of control?

We consider the question in this asap video report.

___

Yes, asap reporter Ryan Pearson was looking forward to the GTA4 trailer, thankyouverymuch.
