Shouldn't they be called Thirtysomething Mutant Ninja Turtles!?

Looking back, the original "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie was no cinematic masterpiece.

However, that hugely popular PG-rated movie did successfully bring those beloved green two-dimensional characters to life and marked the height of Turtlefever in the late '80s and early '90s. The film was made for a modest $13 million and would go on to gross 10 times that in the U.S. and spawn two sequels.

Now, Warner Bros. and The Weinstein Company hope to digitally rekindle that cash-happy combo of movie and merchandising magic with four little green letters: "TMNT."

In this asap podcast, DERRIK J. LANG talks to "TMNT" writer-director Kevin Munore, producer Thomas Gray and Michael Perez, the 26-year-old superfan behind Mikey's TNMT Web site, about bringing the franchise back out of its shell.
