Essie Jain had tried before. She had tried to play the South by Southwest music festival. But they didn't want her: All her previous applications were rejected.
That changed this year. Cresting on the success of a recent well-reviewed record, "We Made This Ourselves," the London-born singer/songwriter found herself in the yes pile for the first time. asap's RAY ZABLOCKI documented the soft strumming singer's trip to Austin.
