the ASAP site From: cranerj-AT-hotmail-DOT-com Posted At: Friday, October 07, 2005 11:38 PM Posted To: ASAP - Sound Off Subject: the ASAP site
Hi, thanks for the good content you're offering, but I'd like to share some thoughts I already shared with my co-workers at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, which links to your site. First, please consider dropping the background images (corkboard, tweed, camoflauge, etc.) that load before each page. If you want to be taken seriously by Web-savvy 20-somethings, your site must look serious, or at least well-designed. Second, most of the links in the right hand rails (Latest headlines, etc) end before you give me enough of an idea what the story is about. Currently I see items such as "A wonderful way to tame ..." and "Dropping science with a ..." A wonderful way to tame what? I'll never know, because I'm not going to waste my time clicking on such a useless link. Last, the pages seem to load very slowly, whether I view them at work, where the bandwidth is admittedly lacking, or at home, where there is plenty. I'm not nearly enough of an expert to know for sure, but I think if someone looked over your HTML coding, it could probably be trimmed down enough to speed things up a bit. Not a major obstacle, but it's enough of one if I'm in a hurry. Thanks for reading, Jason
